Friday, February 19 2010 8:00am - 7:00pm
Presented by:
The Wharton Entrepreneurship Club proudly presents the 13th Annual Wharton Entrepreneurship Conference: Entrepreneurship in a Rising Economy. The conference is a leading entrepreneurship forum for entrepreneurs, investors, industry professionals, academics, and students to foster entrepreneurial innovation and leadership.
This year’s conference will focus on how to identify and capture entrepreneurial opportunities as the economy begins to pick up. Special attention will be paid to specific opportunities in Tech, Clean-Tech, Health Care Services, Consumer Products and Web-based Services, which will be covered in specific industry panels. The conference will be held in Philadelphia, PA at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown on February 19, 2010. More information is available at www.whartonEconference.com.
The all-day event will include keynote addresses from Mr. Scott Friend, Co-Founder of ProfitLogic (which sold to Oracle in 2005) and Managing Director at Bain Capital Ventures, and Dr. Kathy Crothall, Founder of three medical device companies, including Animas (sold to Johnson and Johnson in 2006) and Principal of Liberty Ventures Partners. Now in venture investing roles, the two speakers will offer conference participants key lessons for entrepreneurial success as well as current trends in the venture community.
Keynote addresses will be punctuated with insightful industry panels and breakout sessions designed to provide attendees with valuable perspectives from successful entrepreneurs, investors and board of advisors. More specifically, topics will include lessons learned, pitfalls to avoid when starting your own venture, areas that are poised to take off, and how to capture these opportunities today. Registration for the conference is available at http://whartoneconference.ticketleap.com.
Another key event of the conference this year will be the inaugural Student Expo. Building off the success of last year’s Expo, this year the Expo will feature local start-ups as well as selected start-ups run by Penn students, giving these entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase their businesses and to introduce their teams to the 500+ conference attendees. Top teams will have the opportunity to pitch directly to venture capitalists and receive invaluable feedback. Conference attendees will also vote for their favorite student start-up. The winner of this People’s Choice Award will win a private meeting with a local venture capitalist.
